Since the beginning, Wise has evolved alongside the ever-changing world of IT. With deep roots in the Icelandic business community, we bring the local insight and agility needed to help organizations make confident moves in complex environments.

Our story goes back to 1975, when the IT department of KEA – the foundation for Þekking – was first established in Akureyri. In 1986, TölvuMyndir, the predecessor of Wise, was founded in Reykjavík. These two companies laid the groundwork for decades of innovation and trusted partnerships.

In 1999, Þekking hf. was formally founded by KEA and the Icelandic Software Fund, marking a new phase of growth and professionalization in northern Iceland’s tech scene. Fast forward to 2020, Wise was acquired by Nordic investment firm Adira, and in 2024, Wise and Þekking formally merged – uniting decades of expertise under one name and one vision.
